Definitely not as robust as I normally am
Mar. 18th, 2011 09:01 pmSo the tip my left nipple started bleeding in the shower this morning. Now, it's nothing awful: the top layer of skin must have got a bit oxygen-starved after the op, basically scabbed up, and the scab has started to come off. Underneath the scabby part is very delicate new pink skin. When giving it a bit of a pat/wash this morning, this delicate skin started to seep blood.
While I know it's nothing to worry about, and the blood was coming from nowhere near the actual stitches around my nipple, it's been preying on my mind all day. I put a light non-stick dressing over it, there's been no pain, it's not inflamed, a little bit more scab has re-formed, blah blah blah, but it's still ACK! in my mind. I think I'll feel better when all the scabbing is off and the skin is a bit tougher. There's been a bit of leakage from where the stitches are all underneath and so on, but that's absolutely fine; a nipple with a tiny bit of blood coming out of it, not so much, evidently.

I reckon you just had a bruise looking for somewhere to relieve the pressure. Torn cabbage leaves stuffed in your bra might help.
