I've had two exes who were brought up Mormon, and I can say that their families were quite virulently unhappy with the situation. But then again, their daughters *didn't* have any Patriarchs in their lives... so maybe if one of those had been on the scene, it would have been ignored. Although I doubt it, with the horror stories I read about the senior wife policing the beds the sisterwives share, making sure their hands are above the bedclothes and no hanky-panky is going on. Ick ick ick. Still, you'd probably just get exorcised by the Bishop if hanky-panky ensued, and not (metaphorically) burned at the stake like a couple of men would be.
As for the Victorian perspective though, oh, it's good that there is surety somewhere - "extra super bad with chocolate sprinkles" sounds perfect. :-D
