1. One book that changed your life?
The Dispossessed by Ursula LeGuin. It turned me into a raving anarchist, anyway. I don't think there's been a book that's actually physically changed my life, but at least that one helped me make sense of my political philosophy.

2. One book you have read more than once?
Certainly all the books I own, and many more. I've most recently re-read A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold for the umpteenth time. It really is just a perfect book, in so many ways. The book I've read most? Probably The Lord of the Rings, since I read it for the first time when I was 12, and I've read it at least every year since then, so it's added up a bit.

3. One book you would want on a desert island?
Ack! Just one? Something very practical about survivalism in that environment?

4. One book that made you laugh?
Too many to name. I can't think of anything by Diana Wynne Jones that hasn't made me laugh. But I think the most laugh-to-page frequency was To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis. So so clever, without even seeming to try.

5. One book that made you cry?
Hm, Duncton Wood by William Horwood. You know what, do not give this fucking thing to your children to read. I read it when I was about 13/14, and it's all about moles. You know, like Watership Down? Yearight. There's a bloody horrific scene in the middle where the evul leader-mole rapes his daughter. Ok, animals, whatever, but when you ascribe human emotions to an animal, that's the reaction you're looking to elicit, is it not? So, yes, it very effectively conveyed a certain feeling of helplessness that no-one should ever have to experience. I didn't stop crying for days. Bloody horrific. I've read descriptions of real rape that were much less disturbing.

6. One book you wish had been written?
How can you answer this one? I lack the imagination to describe something like that.

8. One book you are currently reading?
The Spirit Ring by Lois McMaster Bujold. Since I reread A Civil Campaign recently, I had to go back and reread ALL her other books. Fan, much?

9. One book you have been meaning to read?
Dear god, where do I start? I had been meaning to read The Ethical Slut, but now I have, I'm glad I've gotten it out the way. Definitely Finding Serenity: Anti-Heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly is something I've been wanting to read for about 600 years. Ish.

10. Now tag five people.
Well, you're all grown-up. Tag yourselves if you feel motivated.
