Musical musings
Jan. 2nd, 2007 06:16 pmI've been intending to do a series of posts forever on kiwi music, and started up a Vox blog purely for the purpose. After diligently re-ripping a whole bunch of stuff to MP3, I just found that they've included OGG files as one kind of media that they'll play in the embedded player.
Oh, well, I just went through and redid the lot, since the recording gain is pretty variable against all the CDs I have (I use OGG instead of MP3 most of the time - it sounds better, and song files that have the same quality as a 192kbps MP3 file are normally up to a megabyte smaller).
So, if you're interested in having a listen to some kiwi music, hop on over and look at Indie kiwi pop and other sweet sounds.
I intend to do other posts featuring lots of electronica, a bit of reggae, and maybe a smidge of grungy guitar. Uploading to Vox is a slow process, though, but I hope to have it all done this week.
Oh, I should mention the artists I've included in that post: Blam Blam Blam, The Chills, The Swingers, Split Enz, Sharon O'Neill, Chris Knox and The Muttonbirds. Enjoy.
