Cheezburgerisms
Apr. 2nd, 2007 10:16 pmThere was a recent post of a DO NOT WANT cat, which sparked some interesting observations from Cheezburgerservrdude him(?)self:
how did the “do not want” things get started?
Today I used the lolcat “i has a bukket” collage for my postmodernism class to illustrate how sometimes…we have technology (i has a bukkit), but sometimes, technology has us (NOO the bukkit has MEEE).
Brilliant, wouldn’t you say, lolcat readers?I must say that an internet meme inspired modification of the english language is quite fitting for study in post modermism course. Personally, I believe that if you want to truly understand “how” a meme such as “do not want”, “i has a bucket”, and “i’m in ur x ying z” begins, grows, and takes over the world (ala ICHC) you’d have to delve into several levels of social interaction, the progression and development of new/almost constantly changing methods of communication, and finally the diffusive properties provided by the internet, instant communication, and the perceived value for time sensitive communicative compression.
in the endz u realize u is as much a part of it as it is a part of u.
And u iz, indeedz. See, cute cats, silliness and the occasional interesting remark. What more do you need?
