Apr. 17th, 2007 04:57 pmIt's well-understood that James Cook pretty much epitomised the stereotype of the dour, hardworking Yorkshireman (although at least he was willing to talk to people of a different complexion to his own), and there's an amusing wee article in today's NZ Herald about his less-than-inspired abilities in naming places in NZ (and elsewhere, although these aren't mentioned). Of course, with the number of places he mapped, no wonder inspiration started to run dry...
