Simple things make everything better

• Yes, I'm overflowing with goddess blessings, dams bursting, trains running through tunnels ... oops, wrong metaphor there at the end. I need to remember that if I give blood the week before my period is due, it usually comes on a bit earlier. It really is the best time to give blood, since it generally makes my period lighter and shorter as well.
• Excellent input from my flist re irritations at friends one has spoken to recently. Thank you for all your illuminating remarks, which helped me put it all in context.
• Actual success at shopping for nice things. I had some spunky shoes in Sydney waved under my nose last week, but they didn't stock them in my size. WOEZ. However, I was at the DFO horror today (visiting Freedom Furniture there) and there is an Ecco shoes outlet. Imagine my joy at finding nice lace-up (men's) dress shoes in a size 6 for half price. Yay! They're similar to these, but with a cap toe and plainer detailing at the side.
• Bumping into ironed_orchid and partaking of chai, coffee (alas, bad barista), nommy lemon meringue pie and conversation before heading home.
