Roll on Tuesday, when I don't have to listen to yet another bloody badly-rendered Christmas carol broadcast at 500 decibels. If they had nice choral versions of Here We Come A-wassailing and the like, I might be happier. Perhaps.

However, I just wanted to say something to the lovely woman who dressed her 6-year-old girl in a pink satin "princess" dress and then bought an ice cream for the child to eat while walking down the street... Get over yourself, bitch, because it ain't the kid's fault she dripped ice-cream over her dress. And lay off the heavy and martyred disapproval vibes after your injust chastisement of her. I won't blame the kid for resenting you like fuck when she hits her teens, as she undoubtedly will, if that's your usual parenting style.

What a fucking dick. Good on you for giving him what he deserves. Your no.1 daughter sounds like she would've been really festive. How cute! :-)

What got me about the mother's attitude with her daughter was that the kid was obviously so happy to be dressed up and wearing her princess dress. But given the mother's crap attitude about the accident (I mean, if she was so worried about the kid getting grubby, since they were all obviously dressed up to go somewhere, why give her the bloody ice-cream?), I wouldn't be surprised if the girl doesn't feel quite so beautiful in that dress again.

If the mother had gone "Oops, tsk, tsk", fine, but she was toxic. Some adults don't deserve to have anything to do with children.

*pats for stress-reduction*

Icecream comes out of most fabrics just fine with water. A simple trip to the ladies', & voila! problem solved! If the fabric's too fancy for icecream, she should've given the kid another treat, like a lolly. Having a kid is what the law calls Willful Assumption of Risk, especially where messes are concerned. Uncle Murphy is full of love.

That mom is obviously neglecting the kid's education. If the icecream was a cone, the kid should've been taught to lick around and around the edges to keep up with the drippage. [Such a skill may have other uses later in life, but that's a story for another day. ;)] If it wasn't a cone, that's what napkins are for. Duh. A little bit of thinking ahead could've saved everyone worlds of drama & trauma.

Also, yay for nixing 500 decibels. There's a filk group you might like, the n'Early Music Consort. They do a song called "Wassalien." If you can download songs, I could upload it for you.
