Re LoTR, I didn't mind the omission of Tom Bombadil, since I personally found him quite irritating, and I could see they could work around him. But their leaving out of the Scouring of the Shire really pissed me off. Also, leaving out most of the stuff between Faramir and Eowyn was a shame. But the thing that most pissed me off was all the bollocks about Arwen carrying the mighty
phallic symbolAnduril to Aragorn. The thing about the flag was much more symbolic. The sword was his as Elendil's heir. However, the flag was his claim to kingship and also represented the Elves' political acceptance of that claim. The whole sword thing just felt like cheesy Conan/Belgariad "collect the plot tokens" fantasy crap.(no subject)
