Dear Helpdesk,

No, it's never nice when emails get bounced for no good reason. And I'm delighted to whitelist email from a known good sender when necessary. However, strangely enough, I can only whitelist mail that is sent to us. While it would be great if I could manage other people's servers for them when I wanted to, at this stage it's unfortunately quite difficult for me to whitelist mail from us on the recipient's server. Sorry.

No love,

Trix

Oh Dear... I can fully imagine the conversation that preceded your post.

Commiserations!

Honestly.

And what really impressed me in the call log was a 1024x768 full-on screenshot of the bloody bounce message. If HD were so stupid not to realise it was coming back from the recipient server, haven't they heard of cut-and-paste? Actually, knowing some of the staff there at present, probably not.

LOL. Typical. Of course you can control all things related to email!

On another note, I'm up in Canberra this weekend. Care for a mini-Con? Is Avery around?

Of course I can. Actually, this probably serves me right for going on at the HD trolls "It's ME who controls the email. ME. Not the Windows admins. Not the Unix admins. Not my supervisor or the customer services manager. ME ME ME!". Perhaps they took it a little too much to heart.

As for Lois-cons, possibly yes?! I've got a couple of things on that aren't firmed down yet, but we might be able to wiggle something in around the edges. As for Avery, I'm not sure where he might be at. :-)

Goddamnit, my god-powers are on the wane. I do my best "zap the email mindrays energy" and still nothing happens on their servers!

Junior bosslady reckons it's a conspiracy to make me feel wanted, and why aren't I basking in the warm glow?

Of course, I'm wondering why I'm surrounded by smart-arses, myself. Heee!

*boggle*

Did this person even CONSIDER the overall implications of that request?

I mean, if you *could* do that for your people's perfectly-legitimate correspondence, then...

...oh, gee, I dunno...

maybe ANY HALF-COMPETENT SPAMMER WOULD BE ABLE TO DO THE SAME THING?!?!?

*eyeroll*

(Sorry for shouting...but sometimes it just seems necessary.)
