So, I've been moving the mailboxes of four of my servers so far. The most common non-default mail folder name is "Stuff". So there you go. I have to confess to having a Misc folder, but perhaps that is just a little bit effete.

Also, if you use Outlook, please don't keep more than 1000 items in the core folders (Inbox, Calendar, Journal). It slows down copy operations like fuck. Also, it'd slow things down when you open Outlook. You can create lots of little subfolders and file things in there, ok?

In other news, I've packed all my books. 8 cartons - I estimated the number of book cartons I'd need precisely, go me. It's not too bad, really - 5 of those were what I shipped back from England (look, if a book is the same price as a pint, what are you going to buy more of? Keeping in mind the fact I start puking violently if I have more than three or so pints, that is. See above re "effete". Perhaps I should start a group for effete - not faggy - butches. The faggy butches already have their own groups.)

Uh, does it count if they're in subfolders of Inbox? And does this mean I have to go back and delete appointments from the Calendar?

No, no, subfolders are fine. It's just that Outlook indexes the core folders when it opens - subfolders aren't core folders.

As for deleting old Calendar items, yes. Also, all those non-mail items also contribute to your overall mailbox size, so if you have a mailbox quota, your Calendar helps fill it up. If you sort by Category view, it's easy to remove the old stuff.

:-)

My e-mail Stuff is in 'nifty'...but I do have a 'Stuff' in My Documents.

I daresay I'll have a Misc any time now...

I have several different "Misc" folders in various places. I also have a few "Stuff" folders, though they're all clearly labelled: "SF Stuff", "SCA Stuff", "Post-flight Stuff", etc.

I suppose I'm only partly effete?

Well, you like cocktails as well. That certainly ups the effete score (it certainly does for me). :-)

Heh, I can actually get all my books onto the bookshelves I have, although unfortunately I have to double-shelve the books onto two of them, so it kind of makes nearly half my books inaccessible. I'll have to work on this wee problem...

A wonderful librarian by the name of [livejournal.com profile] deor showed me how to solve this problem. you have a piece of wood at the back of the shelf that holds the back row up by a third-book-height. This lets you see what all those books are.

You and she and her lovely and beautiful partner [livejournal.com profile] malada would get on far too well.

Eee, that's a fab idea. Of course, librarians are well-reknowned for their fab ideas, as I know from personal experience. ;-)
