Bugger the bluetooth connectivity...

RedTacton is a new Human Area Networking technology that uses the surface of the human body as a safe, high speed network transmission path.
This gives a whole new dimension to having interactivity between your various devices. The networking apparently doesn't use any extra electricity or boosters, just the natural field around your body. You can still wear your clothes and shoes for the earthing to work. Personally, I think it would be fun to have barefoot business meetings, but maybe that's just me.
At 2Mbps (although they reckon they could get up to 10Mbps), it's at least twice as fast as bluetooth. Security seems like it would be naturally better, since our field only extends a matter of centimetres from our bodies rather than metres. One hopes they're exploring proper data encryption technologies (which held back adoption of WiFi, and, majorly, Bluetooth).
A further overview is at the Guardian: Kiss and tell
